We were called upon to have a look at a pleasant play area in Gloucestershire, requiring some upgrading, after it failed to meet the requirements of the council’s safety policy.
Play equipment modifications
The large multi play unit had failed on a number of points and the council’s only option was to remove or call upon Morti Sport & Play’s expertise in adapting the unit to comply with a change in standards. A number of trip hazards were present due to wetpour curling over time. Wetpour is a natural material and is prone to shrinkage.
We were able to remove and replace the failing elements of the ice storm unit as per the below CAD plan. This resulted in increasing safe play value without complete replacement.
The result
Morti Sport and Play were able to remove these hazards and replace with new rubber for a fraction of the cost of renewing or overlaying.
The older metalwork needed attention and the plan here was to refurbish the rest of the play equipment rubbing down and treating any rust and repainting the play area breathing a fresh new lease of life into the space once more.
