We take a look at delivering Chivenor Primary School’s vision of an outdoor fitness area with a huge wetpour mile a day rainbow coloured running track.
The brief
To provide the client with surfacing options on a mile a day running track; outdoor gym equipment suitable for primary school children; in-ground trampoline suitable for a number of children to use together and a variety of differing surface types to really brighten up an existing macadam hard standing that currently had little play and sport value yet great potential for redevelopment.
Client commitment
We promised that we would work with the head teacher in delivering her vision of an outdoor space suitable for all to enjoy and which would encourage her pupils to look forward to being outdoors and playing sport in a fun, exciting and rewarding way. This facility had to not only be inviting and attractive but needed to aid the children's comfort during their workouts in as safe a space as possible.

Our children's outdoor gym equipment which is tailored to the size and shape of primary age children was a real motivator for the school in choosing our equipment. Our outdoor fitness range also includes large in ground trampolines available in a variety of shapes and sizes. These outdoor trampolines offer a gentle fun playful workout and can be used as a warm up method prior to using the other fitness stations or simply as a fun playground activity.
Outdoor fitness area
This area, central to the whole scheme, had to offer as many children as possible outdoor physical exercise options which would encourage group workouts, without inhibiting the space by slowing freedom of movement between each piece of equipment.
The new exciting outdoor gym area included three pieces of outdoor gym equipment and one large outdoor in ground trampoline. Notts turf synthetic sports grass with shock pads are to be neatly laid underneath the gym equipment and inground trampoline.
The outdoor fitness equipment chosen included 2x combo superhero workout stations offering 4 users to operate the gym equipment independently. The Combo superhero childrens outdoor gym unit offers four users a mix of exercise to include ski trainer and Hips; bicycle and stepper whilst the double air walker offers two users cardiovascular workouts.
